Scrapping on a Snowy Day...

Just catching up on some scrapping projects while watching the Steelers beat the Ravens!  Here is one of the pages from our trip to Chicago last summer.  Sorry the pic is a bit blurry!

The cityscape was cut from the Cricut Going Places cartridge, the backgroud is silver shimmer and was cut with the shadow feature.  The fonts I used were Sizzix Slim Jim and Quickutz Khaki SkinniMini.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Last Minute Gift Certificate

We decided to get our 9yo son a pair of customized soccer shoes for Christmas - he has been wanting them for a long time and spends hours online 'designing' his own shoes.  Not knowing what specs he wants, my hubby suggested to just write him a note in a card.  Well, that seemed to boring to me so I needed something better!  Here is what I came up with: (click to enlarge):

I used my Cricut to cut the frame (from Gypsy Wanderings), and the cleats (from Soccer Solutions cart).  The die cut font is Quickutz Chicken Noodle and I typed the notation on my computer in an athletic font to fit.  His team colors are blue and green, so I used those for the shoes.  My Mom had a great idea to wrap the certificate inside a shoe box so he really feels like he is opening a gift.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and very Merry Christmas!!

The Apprentice

I sometimes wish I could 'freeze' my children, to keep them little for longer.  Here is a LO of my dear son, now 9, when he was about 2.  I remember this day like it was yesterday.  Still need to add my journaling.  I used Spellbinders Pinking Circles (love those), Quickutz 2x2 tools dies, and Quickutz Bright alphabet.  Patterned paper at the top is Creative Memories (as are the brown short cuts strips - remember those??)[click to enlarge]

Thanks for stopping by!

New Plans for the New Year

My blog will be getting a face lift in January!  I have plans to add videos on a regular basis in the coming year to bring you great ideas and inspiration.  The videos will mostly be scrapbooking related and will use a variety of die-cutting equipment (both metal and digital).  I will have some cards and other papercrafts sprinkled in for good measure.  I always enjoy watching crafting videos, but scrapbooking videos are sometimes hard to find (as compared to card or general papercraft videos) so I figure I need to give in order to receive.  Check back often because I hope to start uploading some new videos over the Christmas holiday.  Happy Crafting everyone!!

Sizzix Eclips Rumors Abound!!

Have you heard??  An Eclips is coming....from Sizzix that is!  Rumors are flying about cyberspace as to what this new machine called the "Sizzix Eclips" will be.  Personally, I am hoping for a 12" electronic / digital cutter with the ability to cut Sizzix shapes and more.  I've seen alot of speculation that it will be similar to the Gypsy, but I'm not convinced.  Perhaps there will be a handheld component to it, but thus far Sizzix has not released an actual electronic cutting machine, so unless they plan for the Eclips to work with other brands products, I'm thinking they will need to release their own.  So here is what we know so far:
(1)  Sizzix released an ad showing a blackened out picture of the machine (which does look somewhat Gypsy-like) announcing a release date of January 15th.
(2) A Twittering guy named Tanner tweeted on Sept 17th that he was "working on stuff for EClips, the new electronic die cutting machine from Sizzix"
(3) The Trademark application for the Eclips was filed in 2007 by Ellison (so this thing has been in the works for awhile now...a definite good sign that it will be a quality product) and describes the mark for a "machine for cutting images from paper and other materials in sheet form used in personal crafting and child education".  Gotta love public records - I dug that one up myself - don't get too impressed though b/c I couldn't find the patent application (still looking for that one).
Stay tuned here for more info fellow Die-Cutting Junkies...I'll post as soon as I hear anything else about the Sizzix Eclips!!

Chirp! Chirp!

Can you hear my Cricut chirping?  New Paisley cart is in the house!  Here is a simple card I whipped up last night to send to my sister who is having a medical procedure this week.  She loves ladybugs, so this was perfect for her.  The designs on this cartridge are just precious!

I embossed the background with the Tiny Flowers Sizzix Texture Plate (from the starter kit) and added some Basic Grey ribbon (from the Color Me Silly line - remember that??).   The yellow photographed pretty bright - it is a bit softer IRL.  Thanks for looking!
